Introduction
A. About Myself
I am delightful to be connected to the international apostolic network. Let by worldwide anointed Apostle Peter Whitehouse through our Blessed anointed Apostle Robert Makona in-charge of the international Apostolic Network in Africa through Kitale Kenya. My name is Apostle Johnston W. Were, I was born on 1st October 1972, I completed my primary school education in 1987. I completed my secondary education in 1991. Thereafter I also participated in other activities of building up our beloved nation of Kenya before entering fully into ministry work in 1993.
B. My Family.
I got married to one wife on 13th November 1993. My dear wife Name is Pastor Margaret Were. We have 3 children, 2 sons and a daughter. Their names are Samuel, born in 1996, David, born 2001 and Ruth born in 1999. They all love the Lord Jesus Christ as savior and are more active in church ministry.
C. My Ministry
I got saved in 1986; I joined my first bible school in 1993, where I was awarded a certificate in pastoral theology after completion a few years later. There after I again joined a bible collage pastoral theology in 1998 from the college known as Grace College of East, at Karen Nairobi, Kenya East Africa.
I have been serving as senior Pastor with the Glory Ministries in Kenya, for the last 15 years. After 5 years of serving as a pastor of local church, I was elected by our ministries District Council to serve as a regional/ sectional overseer. There after I was elected by the executive board of the ministries, to serve as a chairman as well as the national overseer of the ministries of 300 branch churches all over the country. This position, I am still saving up to date. I received a call in the apostolic ministry 5 years ago. The calling came upon me through the inspiration and conviction of the Holy Spirit, and through the anointed ministers of the gospel, by prophetic utterances. Apart from overseeing the ministry as a whole, I am also a senior pastor of local church where I minister fully and demonstrate my vision which God has given me as a shepherd of the flock of Jesus Christ Acts 20:28-35.
Section 1
a) General information
I am pasturing a church in one of the fastest growing towns, called Mumias. Mumias is situated along Kakamega – Bungoma road in the western province of Kenya. This town of Mumias from Bungoma is only 25 kilometers.
b) Specific information.
- a part from preaching the Gospel and helping our church members, and our local branch church members to grow spiritually, God also gave to me a vision for my church, the entire ministry and the communities in which our churches are situated.
- Ten years ago, God convicted me through the holy spirit to start a ministry of helping the need people in my church and the surrounding community.
- The vision was much appealing that I had to start immediately, for I could not the holy ministries to participate fully.
- I started with my local church members, by making our contribution in our church, we collected clothings, food, money etc. just as the scriptures also says. James 1:27, proverbs 19:17.
- From then, we have been moving out to the communities, and sharing our foods, clothes etc. with needy persons especially widows and orphans who are also either affected or infected with HIV/AIDS.
I am also a trained community based health worker, trained by one of the C.B.O’s , and NGO working in different areas of our country. With the knowledge, I also started training people from our church, to assists in the work of counseling the needy persons as we go visiting their homes.
Section 2
Problems we are experiencing from the time we started our project for helping the needy
i. It is very hard to reach out to every home where the needy people lives, for their homes are scattered, in accessible and are far away, it takes some hours to reach some homes
ii. The infected and affected persons, in the communities’ needs qualified personnel to offer necessary education on guiding and counseling, to assist them accept their status and may live at least longer, but the training of the counselors is highly costing.
iii. When the needy persons, (widows orphans and vulnerable children are visited by our support groups from the church, for more support in terms of food, clothing, fees, school uniforms, books and pens e.t.c. but support groups assists them with what they have contributed from the church, or can afford to give out. This makes the needy persons unhappy but at least encouraged in the lord.
Section 3
THE NEED FOR TRAINING OF CHURCH MINISTERS
a) Equip our saints for the work of ministry, I have also zeal and burden for establishing a school of ministry in the future, for the training of our brothers and sisters who have a call from God for ministry work. As God’s word says, “ God’s people perish from lack of knowledge or understand” Hosea 4:6.
PROBLEMS FACING OUR PROGRAMES OF THE TRAINING OF OUR CHURCH MINISTRY.
b) Most of our young brothers and sisters in the churches have the heart of serving God, but they lack the resources to go to the recognized bible collage in our nation, simply because they are costly. For most of the people in our country are living below the poverty line, of less than a dollar in a day.
- though we have tried as a church and as a ministry to raise some funds and sent a few of our saints for the training in the bible collage, but due to big numbers of those who need the training, it has became very difficult to meet the needs of them all, that is why we are trusting God for establishing a bible collage in future, so that our brothers and sisters with a heart of serving God may get a chance for training in big numbers.
Section 4
Our future plans proverbs 16:1-3
Our objectives if we succeed in our future plans
1) To bring as many people as possible to Christ as we reach out for many in the community.
2) To show the sinners that God’s love help as we help them and pray for them to be healed.
3) To target all groups of people. These are the aged, the young and the children to come Jesus and minister to each other love, expanding God’s family.
4) To reduce or eradicated poverty in our community and minimizing cases of robbery, murders and fornication in the society, and in God’s church.
5) To give a chance to all groups in the church and society at large to preach the gospel every where freely. Mathew 28:19-20, mark 16:15-18
6) To make youths busier, so that they do not remain idle and engage themselves in cases of early pregnancies, drop out of school, early marriage, smoking, drinking, fornication and other bad behaviors.
7) To expand God’s Kingdom by growing our churches both spiritual and numerically.
Out targets groups.
- god loves everybody; John 3:16
- he doesn’t want none to perish but get saved. 2peter 3: 9
- we therefore target: old persons the youth the children and the sinners to see God’s love, come and salvation. Acts 17:30-31.
Plan of action.
- we started by collecting food stuff, clothing, some money etc. from our church members then our groups goes out and visiting the needy families in homes. .
- due to insufficient resources, we are not able to meet all the needs of the needy people.
- We also coming up with some small projects that can manage.
- Other projects are still bending as we wait upon God, while trusting him for finances for facilitating those projects
For examples
We have started a pre-unit (nursery school) and the church members are catering for the requirements to run it through. It is hard to run with no adequate resources.
I and the entire ministry God’s people that oversee, we urge our fellow God’s servants and preachers globally, to pray for us, and even willing to partner with us, when time comes to do. God’s work together, both locally and internally. Furthermore we invite any God’s servant or preacher who may have the same vision like ours to be willing to come and grace God’s word in our congregations and may work more efficient and perfect as our God so directs us. Proverbs 3:5-7
